No Sewing, but Pretty Pictures and a Weepy Tale.

No sewing was done this weekend because my boyfriend suggested escaping the snow and driving down to Skagway, Alaska for hiking, and how can a girl refuse that?

Old train along the White Pass. We're near the Chilkoot Trail, which we're planning to hike this summer.
The Boyfriend in front of the Frozen Reid Falls - gorgeous! (And so are the falls)
I did take knitting along for the 3 (*coughtwocough*) hour drive. Got a lot of my Owls sweater done too.  Except, I tried it on this morning...

IT'S TOO DAMN BIG!!!  WWWWWWWAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!  D:  D:  D:  D:  D:  I even did a few gauge swatches to check that everything was okay, AND IT'S NOOOOOOOOTT.  *woe*

Here's my mourning picture before I rip it all back and go down a needle size.  :(

*weeps in the corner*

  1. Sounds like a great time away, though I must admit that I first thought you typed that he proposed to you and I was going to write congratulations, lol!

  2. What a shame! Love the colour, it is worth undoing (sad face) and whipping back up to fit! Laughed at Suzy's comment...J

  3. Gorgeous (I mean the scenery, but I assume the BF also). Sorry about the knitting but you had a great day otherwise!

    1. It was a good day! And luckily it wasn't ruined by the sweater because I found out it was too big the next day. No shadows on our awesome trip! :D

  4. Wow. You are gonna do the Chilkoot! Start training girlfriend. I heard of one woman (not that you would ever do this) who lost it part way up and paid for a helicopter to come get her. It was $$$. I know of quite a few people who did it, and they all said it was the toughest thing ever.

I am a bit jealous, I love Skagway. I love the look of the landscape at Fraser, it always looked like an alien world to me. Too bad it is too far from anything to be used for a film set.

    1. In training now! I've been working at walking the UG ramp at the mine to gain stamina, and the Boyfriend and I are planning to do a bunch of day and overnight hikes this summer before we go. :) I WILL not be whimping out and calling for help unless it's medically necessary *knocks on wood that it's not needed*

My boyfriend has done the Chilkoot twice already, so he has a lot of input about it. I'm so excited to do it! :D

  5. I say we have an exchange. I want to come visit Alaska, and you should come visit Texas. We'll have built in tour guides!

    1. Uh, I'm not sure about Texas. The sun and I are mortal enemies and I'd rather -40C to +40C (or whatever ridiculous value that'd be in ferinheight). If there's a cold(er) season though (is there? I hear Texas exists about 20 m from the sun), I might be convinced. lol You are more than welcome to visit here though! :D

    2. ROFL, actually our nice weather, probably by our standards as I grew up up North and sun and heat make me die inside as well, is dead of winter. I say October - March are your best bets for a Texas visit. :-)
